LIVING THE LESSON
due February 5, 2023
The Creed: Living our Catholic Faith
(completed as a family)
Our focus for the month of January is “The Creed: Living our Catholic Faith.” Each week in church, we recite/pray the Nicene Creed:
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Then Father says:
This is our faith. This is the faith of the Church. We are proud to profess it in Christ Jesus our Lord.

How does your family profess, or share, their faith/what you believe with others? For this month’s Living the Lesson, spend a total of two hours consciously “living your faith.” This is completely open ended and can be done any way you’d like! Those who believe in, and follow, Jesus Christ follow His teachings, which are shared with us in Scripture and at Mass. What does Jesus ask of us? What does our Church teach us to do? How are we the face of Christ to others, living in His image and likeness? Find ways, as a family, to live your faith! Will you attend Mass together at least twice this month? Will you spend time in Adoration? Will you volunteer at a soup kitchen, donate clothes and winter apparel to the less fortunate, become an altar server, lector (reader) or cantor at Mass? Will you make cards or send gifts to those in need or are lonely? Will you pray the rosary several times together as a family? Will you shop for someone who is unable to? Or cook a meal for someone in need? Will you go to Confession or attend or celebrate a Baptism? There are so many ways we can live our faith through prayer, service and the sacraments! How your family chooses to do it this month is completely up to you!

Remember, this should take a minimum of two hours. This is due by February 5. Please be sure to send Mrs. Mackey a picture of what your family has done to cmackey@syrdio.org to receive the credit hours!
